COMPLEMENTARY & HOLISTIC THERAPIES

LEVEL 2 COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies is an introductory qualification that has been designed to prepare you for a career in complementary therapies. This qualification will develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice and clinic services and business awareness required for complementary therapies. Furthermore, you will learn about anatomy, physiology and healthy eating. You will also learn basic massage techniques.


You will study these units as part of the course: 

 

  • Introduction to clinic services and business awareness for complementary therapies.

  • Introduction to principles and practice of complementary therapies.

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology for complementary therapies.

  • Provide basic massage therapy techniques for complementary therapies.

  • Provide basic aromatherapy techniques using pre-blended oils.

  • Provide basic reflexology techniques.

  • Introduction to healthy eating and wellbeing for the complementary therapy client.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Level 2 English qualification is required.

  • Acceptance onto this course is subject to successful guidance interview

  • A portfolio of work is to be submitted for moderation.

WHERE COULD THIS COURSE TAKE YOU?

On completion of this course you may choose to undertake further study: qualifications you may wish to progression onto include Level 3 Diplomas in Complementary Therapies, Aromatherapy, Reflexology or Massage.

LEVEL 3 SWEDISH MASSAGE

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a beauty therapist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a beauty therapist as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty massage therapist including, units covering the following: providing body massage, health and safety, anatomy and physiology and client care. Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, and client care. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide relaxing massage treatments using classical Swedish massage movements. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.


You will study these units as part of the course: 

 

  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon.

  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries

  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • You will need a Level 2 qualification in massage and a good command of English.

COURSE DURATION

  • 15 weeks

ASSESSMENT 

  • There will be a mix of continuous assessment methods including essays and case studies.

WHERE COULD THIS COURSE TAKE YOU?

When you have successfully completed this qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress the following qualification: Level 3 diploma in Complementary Therapies, Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Spa Therapy. This qualification may lead into employment in the beauty or complementary therapy industries as a Swedish massage practitioner.

LEVEL 3 COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a complementary therapist: anatomy, physiology and pathology, principles and practice of complementary therapies including health and safety, client care, client consultation and business principles. The Level 3 Diploma is a technical level qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an employed or self-employed therapist.


You will study these units as part of the course: 

 

  • Business practice for complementary therapies

  • Principles and practice of complementary therapies

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathway for complementary therapies

  • Provide body massage for complementary therapies

  • Provide aromatherapy for complementary therapies

  • Provide reflexology for complementary therapies

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies and Level 2 English qualification is required.

  • Acceptance onto this course is subject to successful guidance interview

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies provides progression opportunities to specialist complementary therapy qualifications at Level 4. Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment as a Massage Therapist/Practitioner, Aromatherapist, Reflexologist or Complementary Therapist.

LEVEL 4 COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES

This qualification will enable you to add additional techniques for treatment applied to your existing repertoire whilst further developing your knowledge of the theories and practices for advance applications of aromatherapy, reflexology and body massage. Through this qualification, you will develop your interpersonal skills while expanding your understanding of advanced massage techniques in all three main disciplines. This qualification is designed to give you the essential knowledge to assist you to provide advanced therapeutic skills within a clinical setting.

  • Advanced aromatherapy for the complementary therapist

  • Interpersonal skills for the complementary therapist

  • Advanced massage therapy for the complementary therapist

  • Advanced reflexology techniques for the complementary therapist

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies and Level 2 English qualification is required.
